Try using other virus scanners like..
Spybot - search and destroy
Malwarebytes anti-malware
Avira Anti-Vir
Just google them, free and easy to use.
I had a trojan virus recently which done the same, when i clicked on a link in google it directed me to a random page.
Disturbed @ 2009-06-12 04:19:44
Some people dont like it, but I swear by AVG Anti-Virus, its free, I had real problems with my pc and had Norton and it didnt pick up anything, but AVG clears the lot. Give it a go, what have you got to lose??
time for a change @ 2009-06-12 04:19:48
Best option,You reboot your computer in safe mode after than download
Smitfraudefix spyawre,or Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, update and full scan your computer.
http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php
SmitFraudFix is a freeware specialized spyware removal tool. It uses OS safe-mode removal as base for its spyware removal, which means that one will have to restart the computer in Safe-Mode to check and remove spyware with this tool.

jazzy @ 2009-06-12 04:27:00
Try with this sequence:
Spybot
Avast
AVG
they all have free versions available online...
Good luck!
Paolo @ 2009-06-12 04:41:53
Try SUPERAntiSpyware first - it is very good at what it does (including the detection and removal of adware). Install and update, then run a complete scan.
http://www.superantispyware.com/
Following that, I would also perform a full scan using Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware - to double-check that SAS hasn't missed anything.
http://www.malwarebytes.org/
Ad-Aware is some-what outdated; both SAS and MBAM are better and are two of the best available. Keep note that the free versions won't protect (prevent) you from further infection though as they don't include real-time protection - only scan and removal capability.
don piano @ 2009-06-12 04:54:19
Try Bit-Defender anti-virus

[Subject]Cyber-stalking by separated husband- will a data wipe solve it?
[Question]
A co-worker of mine just told me that she believes that her husband is cyber stalking her through her computers. She said that he's gotten into her facebook & she believes that he's gotten into everyone's email & other personal data. She thinks that he may have sent her something through her e-mail that is like spyware, but isn't entirely sure. She said that he also knows her router number & info, so she wasn't sure if that would give him access to all of her information. She said that she's never told him the passwords for any of her personal accounts, so I think that there's got to be some sort of keylogger or something in there.
My question is this: other than the obvious route of constantly changing her passwords, would a complete data wipe of the computers solve this problem? Would she also have to change out her routers? Also, would it be better if she were to replace all of her computers even if she had them all data wiped?
I told her to take it to a computer repair place like Geek Squad or the like & to let them know everything that has been going on. I also told her that she should ask them to check for any virus programs in her stuff so if there are viruses/spyware/ect on some of her data she can ensure that she doesn't reload those files back onto her systems.
If you have a computer repair shop to recommend in the Richmond, Virginia area, that would be much appreciated! I'll send all of the suggestions on to her!
Well, as far as him taking over the computer I get the impression that he's more trying to watch what she's doing than anything else. My co-worker said that he seems to be spying on everyone in the family & has made somewhat of a mention to things that she & her kids had said privately.
She hadn't realised that he'd been spying on her until after she'd sent a personal message to a date & he started acting funny whenever this guy came around the house after that point. No one knew about the date other than her & this guy- she went to great pains to hide it. The date is a good friend of the family, so it's not like it was an abnormal thing for him to come around & hang out. Before she sent out this message the separated hubby would act normal around this guy- friendly even.
Jim: She's sure that it's him because he's made mention to things that were not mentioned outside of her or her childrens' emails/facebook/ect. She had asked her kids if they'd made mention of any of those things to their father & they said that they hadn't. Also, he's started acting strange to her date after she sent a message to him.
She's also experiencing trouble with her texts, but that's more easily solved by her password protecting her phone & not leaving it around where he can get to it. By all accounts (at least from what I'm hearing), the guy is a psycho. I'm going to recommend that she think about going to the police with this if he doesn't stop or if it continues even after she cleans the computers out.
Frank N. Stein: Ohh.... I love malwarebytes! I have that on my computer at home- it's a wonderful thing, that program!

Make sure to change all your passwords. And if it gets worse notify the authorities.
founck @ 2009-06-12 03:21:04
Tell her to run these two programs:
http://malwarebytes.org/
http://www.superantispyware.com/
But, if he has a true keylogger on there, which I doubt, he would have taken over her pc already and she probably wouldn't have access to it anymore.
Malwarebytes and SUPERAntiSpyware will do the same thing that the Geek Squad will do, but $200 less. In other words, free.
And like the first guy said, call the cops. Keyloggers are 100% illegal, not to mention he's harassing her.
Frank N. Stein @ 2009-06-12 03:23:44
Yep, change all passwords. Scan PC with anti-virus, anti-spyware and root kit software.
If still concerned wipe and rebuild system & change all passwords, should be OK then.
Stumpy @ 2009-06-12 03:25:29
Sounds like this guy is either using a keylogger or is a hacker. Definitely have her bring the computer into Geek Squad, they will most likely be able to find any spyware programs and remove them. Also, I highly recommend you have your friend change the security settings on her router, she can find more info on how to do that from the manufacturer's website.
(On a more personal note, you might also want to suggest she talk to her boss if this is happening at work, and probably the authorities as well.)
Helpful Dom @ 2009-06-12 03:27:48
forget all the crap, tell her to get a flash drive, save all her paperwork on it and photos.(no programs)
reformat the whole drive.Make sure she has a new windows disc, and install new again. He has installed a key stroke copy program in her pc.
it saves everything she types and sends it threw outlook to him.
^www.BEATSFROMCHICAGO.com ^ @ 2009-06-12 03:31:16
Your co-worker must be 100% sure before she goes to the authorities. I knew a lady in the same situation - convinced that her estranged husband was stalking her by computer.
What she didn't know was that during the period of time she was talking about, the guy was in the hospital all the time undergoing surgery with no access to a computer and therefore totally innocent.
His home was searched in his absence by cops, and his expensive computer taken away. He has never gotten his computer back because the cops claim they can't find it. In addition, due to his frail state following the surgery, he had to pay somebody to put his house back in order after the cops left it in a total mess.
All this because the wife imagined she was being stalked

Ctrl and + or -
Stretton @ 2009-06-12 05:37:58
Ctrl + zooms larger
ctrl - zooms smaller.
DaveEC @ 2009-06-12 05:38:39
Press CTRL+ 0 to reset the zoom
it has to be the 0 key on the top of the keyboard, not the numpad.
whitesprite @ 2009-06-12 05:38:59
control and scroll but sometimes if you click the sroll button on the mouse it does something.
also if your using an apple just close the browser and open a new one and it should reset it self
Liberty @ 2009-06-12 05:38:59
if you have a wheel mouse, this is quite common. Just hold down the ctrl key and use your wheel. It will zoom in and out.

[Subject]Computer asks for system password before it starts boot?
[Question]
When I start my DELL PC, it asks for a system password before it will begin the boot sequence, I am assuming this could be the BIOS password? Anyone know how to bypass this so I do not have to enter password and go straight to the boot sequence?
Thanks

just take out the CMOS battery inside your dell PC
search for "reset bios password"
ReanimateRaiObject @ 2009-06-12 02:46:30
Sure you can bypass this!
When booting up, enter your BIOS setup (usually by pressing the F2 key at the appropriate time).
Locate the BIOS Password section and turn the ON STARTUP password to off. There is no standard setup for BIOS, so I can't give you exact instructions.
HTH!
