The only way i know is go to the toolbar on top,

- extras
- Internet options
- click on every button that's got 'delete' on it

The threads will be deleted but in an investigation, the data can be restored.
aphraar @ 2009-05-26 02:10:14

click on tools
select internet options
a window opens
click on clear history, delete cookies and delete files
this should do the job for u
if this does not work use the windows cleanup software to clean you temporary files and cookies
mustafa k @ 2009-05-26 02:10:57

Hi,

What browser are you using and what version?! If you are using interent explorer 7, go to the "tools" tab, and click the first option under it called "delete browsing history". Click on "delete all" and you are done.

If you are using Firefox, just click ctrl+shift+del select all the checkboxes and click "clear private data".

Hope that helps.
Chaitu @ 2009-05-26 02:11:09

That all sounds very naughty to me and your computer thinks so as well otherwise it would erase
srracvuee @ 2009-05-26 02:11:53

Make sure you are using internet like if you are using internet explorer go to tools, internet options, clear cookies, offline contents and history. If you are using Mozilla firefox then go to clear private data and by selecting all the contents you can delete the history and if you are using opera then select delete private data and click yes.I dont know much about computer because i have used these three browsers.
HOPE IT WORKED.
Megan @ 2009-05-26 02:12:15

Go to the logo on the desktop, click properties, there you should find it say delete internet history, click on it and voila!
... @ 2009-05-26 02:12:38

Try using track erasers. They are very helpful. They delete all the history completely. They even wipe out the unwanted cookies and other auto complete passwords etc.

Try using a program called track eraser pro. You can also search google for other track erasers.
M.S.A. @ 2009-05-26 02:26:30

There's alot of quick and easy ways as stated above but i'll give you the two I use.

1) Go to "Tools" at the top and go right to the bottom and click on "Internet Options" and you can delete your history there.

2) I download some free software (from www.computeractive.co.uk) called "CCleaner" and that gets rid of all history, cookies, temporary internet files etc really quick.

Did my computer catch a virus?
[Question]
i just opened a site containing the name called malware. then there was a dialogue box showing that i should scan my computer because it might be infected by some kind of virus or something. I'm not really familiar to these kind of things. I'm still scanning using NOD32 2.7 but i'm just curious if it really caught a virus.
ok i just completed the scan and a threat was found. A file was infected. i want to clean it up but all tha available actions was to leave it. or there is this check box that says copy to quarantine. what should I do? I dont really know anything about this stuff
anru @ 2009-05-26 04:45:10

[All Answers]
Stop the scan right now! That happened to me and turns out I didn't have a virus but that scan thing gave me one!
Curious_Girl @ 2009-05-26 04:48:26

no doubt, it's a virus.
Sandeep @ 2009-05-26 04:48:27

No...that site is just trying to sell you their product.
Adolf @ 2009-05-26 04:48:36

If you get popups informing you have virus then you should always avoid those kind of ads and close it as soon as possible. Instead of scanning virus in your system they just install the virus. You should rely on your antivirus and update daily.

If delete action is not available you can quarantine the file
AkashT @ 2009-05-26 04:51:15

just get anti virus
goofy @ 2009-05-26 04:53:52

Don't believe it. The site might a phony, trying to fool you into paying for a fake antivirus/crap software. Trust your own Nod32.

List of fake security software sites: http://www.spywarewarrior.com/rogue_anti-spyware.htm

Software to protect your browser: http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html
David Macdonald @ 2009-05-26 04:57:11

A lot of these programs are known as "rogue" anti-malware programs. They falsify service in order to trick users into giving out their credit card info without providing any protection. These programs can get into your system easily, so you have to be careful where you click. If you find these pop ups coming up, DO NOT press anything like "No" or "Cancel" or the X button. Press Alt+F4 and this will close the program.

If you find that these pop ups are not going away, even when you aren't online, then most likely one of these programs has gotten in. You can try running an antivirus program, but these infections are harder to remove. I would suggest seeing a professional, or to save money, reinstall Windows.

Call 911 and ask them to send a geek squad immediately. Or just take your computer to Best Buy.
Richard Head @ 2009-05-26 02:08:29

start your computer in safe mode by pressing F8 key at startup.

go to Start->run . type "regedit" and press enter.

look at following keys
HKLM\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\WINDOWS\CURRENTVERSION\RUN
HKCU\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\WINDOWS\CURRENTVERSION\RUN
H_KEYUSER\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\WINDOWS\CURRENTVERSION\RUN
remove unncecessary entry from there, and delete the key which you dont know.

now restart pc.

you said that you can't connect to internet, its another problem.

download Kaspersky avp removal tool for free.(do it from your friend's pc)

copy it in your system and run it.
check your all system.
Plz_Have_Mercy @ 2009-05-26 02:38:32

You will need to download free antivirus software onto another pc (a friend's, neighbour's pc etc) then transfer it to your pc either by burning it to a blank cd or copying it to a usb flash drive.

Try Avira Antivir - it's free and easy to install - as you don't have internet access, it won't be able to update its virus database but run a full system scan anyway, quarantining all detected items.
http://www.filehippo.com/download_antivir/

It may also be wise to run a scan with superantispyware to pick up malware that Avira may have missed - free here
http://www.filehippo.com/download_superantispyware/

Most techs in my experience will scan your system with free tools such as Avira and superantispyware so why pay them?

Hi,

I choose True Sword: http://www.securitystronghold.com/true_sword.html
Here is the reasons:
* This one can fix over quarter of a million malicious problems
* You can always ask a professional for help while using it
* It's fast, especially with Windows XP
* That will never delete the file your system needs for proper work, while the other programs remove everything they found as a threat
* This program will NEVER piss you off with useless boxes.
Sammy @ 2009-05-26 02:55:57

Go immediately to windowsliveonecare.com and run their safety//security scanner. It may take 2 or 3 hours but is well worth it. Will clean up your computer beautifully including registry. As it seems you do not have a decent anti virus program on your computer, or one at all, I would recommend downloading theirs, you can use it free for up to 90 days and then if you like it convert to paid version, only £39.99 per year for up to 3 computers. I have had it on my computers for 2 years or more now, never have any problems. Also use Super Antispyware to keep me clean of spyware too.

My Computer turns off every 20 or so minutes?
[Question]
Hey,
My computer turns off every 20 or so minutes, and I think its a virus.
Problem is, my virus scan takes around 40 minutes to do, so my computer turns off before its complete. How can I fix this??

Any help soon please??
Owen @ 2009-05-26 02:05:18

[All Answers]
Wipe your computer completley.
SophieShizophrenic @ 2009-05-26 02:08:41

If you suspect a virus, boot into safe mode to run your virus scan. If it still shuts down, it may be overheating, a cpu issue.

Another suggestion is a boot cd. You can create one yourself on another computer if you have access, or you can order one online. Just do a search on ultimate boot cd, you should find one quickly along with instructions on how to create or order. A boot cd will boot up into a virtual drive, enabling you to run all sorts of scans and utilities.
NotOneOfUs @ 2009-05-26 02:12:22

This is a common problem. Try using a Trojan Remover. Its a program which detects and deletes/disinfects ALL VARIANTS of Trojan Virus.
Try using different Trojan Removers. It might sort out your problem.

If that doesn't work then you can try a doing a native scan of your system. Try booting windows in safe mode and then run a complete virus scan.

If that too doesn't work then you have no option left but to format your system.
M.S.A. @ 2009-05-26 02:18:38

I advice to install a fresh copy of Windows on your PC. Else install Avast anti virus. It will scan your PC in boot mode. As soon as you are done installing it, you will be prompted to scan your PC in boot mode or to neglect. Prefer boot scan and check your luck after the scan is done.

Later I advice you to go for best anti virus programs like Kaspersky or Windows Live Onecare or Symmentic.

Hope my info is helpful to you.
Regards.
sixty9thcupid @ 2009-05-26 02:19:30

you can remove the virus by the following steps.

1. Reboot your computer in the SAFE MODE
2. Goto X:\Windows\System (X can be C,D,E or F)
3.You will find a file by name sysres.exe, delete it.(the name sysres.exe is the name of the virus file that causes your pc 2 restart this is the commonly used name for the virus. if you dont find a file with this name, then search for a file with another name )

4.Type regedit in run.You will goto registry editor. Here navigate to

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\ CurrentVersion\Run

There, on the right site you will see an entry by name “sres“.Delete this entry. That’s it.You have removed this Virus successfully.
mustafa k @ 2009-05-26 02:20:18

Check your power saving options. It might be set to shut down after a certain period of inactivity.
